Council Waste Facilities

Council Waste Facilities

MidWaste member councils provide services to their community to ensure  resources are recovered as a priority. Items that cannot be recovered or recycled are buried in landfills.

Waste Management Centres generally include resource recovery facilities such as Community Recycling Centres (CRCs), material stockpiles like scrap metal and greenwaste (these are regularly processed and recycled), and landfills.

Transfer stations are smaller facilities where the community  can drop off a range of items. These are transferred to the larger facility for recycling or disposal.

The map shows the locations of council waste facilities in our region. Click on the pin more information.

To keep your favourite loaf fresh throughout the week, we have some simple storage DOs and DON'Ts, courtesy of our friends at @LFHWUK.

DO: store in a cool, dark and dry place, like a bread bin or cupboard, or in original packaging.

DON'T: store in the fridge – it will make it go stale quicker!

DO: FREEZE your bread!

DON'T: use if mould is present! Most packaged bread can be eaten two days to up to a week after the best before date.

DO: clean your bread bin or cupboard regularly to get rid of mould spores.
