MIDWASTE is the forum made up of representatives from eight member Councils located on the Mid North Coast of NSW, whose focus is regional co-operation in waste management and waste minimisation.
One of MIDWASTE’s major aims is to provide measurable diversion of waste from landfill, with areas that hold the greatest potential for diversion having high priority.
Funding for our regional programs comes from the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), member councils and other grant funding. Every 3 years, MIDWASTE develops a “Regional Resource Recovery Strategy” as a link between the member Councils individual waste strategies and the waste strategy of the NSW Government. This strategy outlines the direction of the group as well as outlining anticipated projects for the 3-year period.
MIDWASTE’s projects have been developed to align with the State Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy and are prioritised according to the needs and objectives of the Member Councils.
MIDWASTE provides four progress reports, quarterly diversion reports and an Annual Report to the Environment Protection Authority. Annual Reports can be seen below.
